Mgr Okolo, nouveau nonce apostolique en Haïti
Ordonné prêtre le 2 juillet 1983, Jude Thaddeus Okolo est incardiné à Nnewi, au sud-est du Nigeria. Titulaire d’un diplôme de droit canonique et de l’Académie pontificale ecclésiastique, il entre au service diplomatique du Saint-Siège le 1er juin 1990. Il travaille dans les représentations pontificales au Sri Lanka, en Haïti, aux Antilles, en Suisse, en République tchèque et en Australie, avant sa première nomination comme nonce, en République centrafricaine et au Tchad, le 2 août 2008 par Benoît XVI.

The CARICOM Heads of Government note that the Transitional Presidential Council of Haiti has stepped down at the end of its two-year tenure, and that Prime Minister Didier Fils Aimé and the Council of Ministers have assumed responsibility for the governance of Haiti. It is expected that this would be a short interim period focused on improving the security environment, intensifying preparations for the holding of national elections, and promoting social and economic recovery.
